Mason & Hamlin Screwstringer Upright #4818

Mason & Hamlin pioneered the use of alternate tuning systems with the 'screwstringer'. We have many examples of other companies who invented ways to avoid the use of a pinblock, which breaks down under the immense stress of the combined tension in the strings. Screwstringers are very stable. Inside each upright a special tuning T hammer was supplied, since the regular tuning hammer will not work on the 'J' hooks.
